Types of degrees and certificates
Section titled “Types of degrees and certificates”We want to make sure you have options that help you take the next step in achieving your goals. That includes the type of degree or certificate you can earn by taking classes here. We offer a wide variety of choices. One is sure to fit.
Occupational degrees and certificates
Section titled “Occupational degrees and certificates”Delta offers certificate and degree programs in some of the most in-demand career fields that are designed to prepare you for immediate employment.
Associate in Fine Arts
Section titled “Associate in Fine Arts”The Associate in Fine Arts degree provides the opportunity to study the fundamentals of art and to begin honing your skills as an artist. This option also assists with the seamless transfer to four-year colleges and universities to obtain Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in art, art history or design.
Associate in Applied Arts
Section titled “Associate in Applied Arts”The Associate in Applied Arts degree is awarded upon successful completion of programs that prepare you for a career in human services, public safety or communication.
Associate in Applied Science
Section titled “Associate in Applied Science”The Associate in Applied Science degree is awarded upon successful completion of programs that prepare you for a career in health, business or technology.
Associate in Business Studies
Section titled “Associate in Business Studies”The Associate in Business Studies degree offers a strong foundation in areas of business studies, such as accounting and management.
Dual Degree
Section titled “Dual Degree”In a dual degree program, you’ll study two academic fields at once and receive two separate degrees (one per discipline). Many of these programs combine general management with an occupational program.
Certificate of Completion
Section titled “Certificate of Completion”The Certificate of Completion is used for short-term programs covering a specific set of skills that is intended for entry-level employment or to acquire a basic skill set. The Certificate of Completion can be credit or noncredit, but is limited to a maximum of six credit hours.
Certificate of Achievement
Section titled “Certificate of Achievement”A Certificate of Achievement is awarded for programs that normally take one year or less to complete and range from six to twenty-three credit hours. Primarily used to prepare for entry-level occupations, the certificate may also be used to prepare for an advanced certificate or degree.
Advanced Certificate
Section titled “Advanced Certificate”An Advanced Certificate is for those pursuing advanced study in an occupational area. Some advanced certificates prepare you for industry certification exams. Advanced Certificates are 24 credits or more and, in some cases, may be used as the base of an associate’s degree.
Transfer degrees and pathways
Section titled “Transfer degrees and pathways”If you’re planning to transfer, an associate’s degree can serve as the first two years of a bachelor’s degree. Many degrees also transfer to a specialized bachelor’s degree, like nursing or welding.
Associate in Arts
Section titled “Associate in Arts”The Associate in Arts degree is designed for those planning to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher. In general, the components of the degree meet requirements for majors in the liberal arts. One of the great features of the program is that it offers flexibility and customization in course selection.
Associate in General Studies
Section titled “Associate in General Studies”The Associate in General Studies degree is designed for those interested in obtaining a degree that can be customized based on varying areas of interest.
Associate in Science
Section titled “Associate in Science”The Associate in Science degree is designed for those planning to transfer to a university to earn a bachelor’s degree or higher. In general, the components of the degree meet requirements for majors with more stringent mathematics and science requirements.
Michigan Transfer Agreement
Section titled “Michigan Transfer Agreement”The Michigan Transfer Agreement is the result of all the registrars at all the Michigan community colleges and public universities working together to facilitate the transfer of general education requirements from one institution to another. In general, the agreement meets one year of general education requirements for a bachelor’s degree, while offering flexibility and customization in course selection.
Post associate certificates
Section titled “Post associate certificates”Delta’s post associate certificates are intended for those pursuing advanced study or formal certification in an occupational area. These programs are six or more credit hours in length and require an associate’s degree or equivalent industry experience for admission to the program.
