As a medical biller/coder, you must have strong communication and organizational skills, computer knowledge and excellent human relations skills.
Health insurance coding and claims specialists accurately report physician services for reimbursement to each patient’s insurance company. They are also required to understand the legal responsibilities of medical office staff members.

Professional Licensure
Billing/Coding Advanced Certificate program completers are able to take the national certification exam in medical billing, medical coding or both, if desired, through the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC). These certifications are valid in all 50 states.
